Head of IT Risk for Corporate and Investment Banking, Societe Generale
Michael Sawyer is a Managing Director and the Head of Technology Risk for Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking reporting directly to the CIO. The Technology Risk team provides Risk Management expertise and execution services that support the organization’s ability to manage technology risk while assisting in both balancing business requirements while helping to meet regulatory requirements. The department provides the underlying framework and methodologies to standardize, consolidate and integrate strong technology risk management practices for Société Générale.
Before Société Générale, Mike was the Global Head of IT Risk for AXA located in Paris. Prior to this role, Mike held similar senior management positions at BNY Mellon as the Head of the Information Risk Management Governance Program, and Pershing where he was responsible for several areas of responsibilities including Regulatory Management, Data Protection, Privacy, Identity Theft, Data Loss Prevention, Regulatory Inquiries and Examinations, and the Control Room. Prior to joining Pershing, Mike worked for a Big 4 consulting firm specializing in Privacy and Security services. He was active in developing and articulating strategy for Corporate governance, Risk, and Compliance practices. Mike was also a co-founder and managing partner of a boutique consulting firm specializing in Privacy, Security and Compliance professional services. Mike’s additional areas of experience include Enterprise Risk, Business Continuity Management, Application Integrity, Security Strategy and Management, Administrative, Physical, and Technical Security.
Mike holds a Series 7, Series 99, Series 24, several technical certifications, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.
